My Favorite Things About CASTFEST09
Castfest was very interesting and a learning experience.
I had it all planned, so I thought ? The last few days leading up to the fest itself.
I had a number of people that couldn’t make it. “All good reasons“.
The few that were still coming including myself didn’t want to put out the money to do the same thing we were already doing at my house.
Needless to say the fair park went with it. It would have been very crowed. Knowing that not all casters are as open as some about who they are and people knowing it.
Dan and jade.devil came early. They drove 10 hours to make it here. They arrived at my house early in the morning on July 14th.
We were able to talk and discuss all the things that make us who we are and why we do it. It was very nice. We didn’t know if anybody else was going to show up or not.
We started our CastFest that Tuesday. It was only the second time meeting someone off of rec ortho. We hit it off great and discussed so much about
casting and our life’s that everything we were doing just seemed natural to us. The first day. I went first and got a camo slc on my left foot. Applied by CastJoker.
Soon after DHSdan followed and got his first LAC on his left hand. Jade.Devil stepped up next and she got her pink SAC. First Place to Public at
was “WallMart”.
Everybody was pretty much exhausted from the day or the drive.
We came back to my house. Me and Jade.Devil had a great talk while DHSdan and CastJoker snored on the two sofa’s.
The next day “July 16th” Came more casts. Jade.Devil Got a Pink SLC and I had my first cast removed. Showed how the saw works.
I then put on DSLWC. One was green on my left and camo was on my right.
After me DHSdan received a camo LLC. All applied by CastJoker.
It was very interesting watching him on crutches with a LAC on. On the 17th
We decided to go to the Oklahoma City Zoo. Dan rented a scooter. We had a great time at the Zoo. It did get very hot when not in the buildings.
At some point Jade.Devil took over the scooter and Dan crutched the rest of the way through it.
He did offer it to her. We had a gentlemen that was working the gates of construction to the new children’s zoo.
He was really shocked to see all of us casted up. I think I have pictures of him starting at us,
but I am not sure. We left because of the heat. We are lucky we left when we did.
20 minutes after we left the Zoo park had tornado sirens going off. In Oklahoma we are use to it. Our guests seemed to handle it alright.
I kept trying to find phone numbers of the casters that I had on my list and no luck.
I got a hold of them thankfully
they got a hold of me that evening. We decided to meet up at my house the next day. That night again me and Jade.Devil stayed up doing her school work and talking about everything in life including casts and casting.
At some point I thought we were joined at the hip. I made a friend that I know I will always have. While she was doing school work.
I got out three rolls of green fiber glass tape. I gave one to everybody. See what you can make out of a roll of fiber glass.

I made a pencil holder. It looked more like a penis when I got through. However It does hold pencils.
Castjoker made a awesome walking heel. DHSdan had a good idea but his tape set up so fast it didn’t tact
together. It was a great activity added to a castfest. That way everybody get to handle fiber glass and get the “feel” of it.
We woke up early the next morning. I talked to two of the gentlemen. CJ gave them directions. Hung up the phone and said they are on their way.
Me and Jade.Devil just looked at each other. Started to get ready. I was very excited to meat some casters.
Everybody was looking forward to it. I got to give DHSdan his second LAC.
I was very honored. Thank God for back seat Casters !!
Coaching me along the way. He’s a great guy to cast. I look forward to it again. As proud as I was I was still nervous because I was next.
My LLC in front of a few people. I never done it with people there.
I was nervous. While he wrapped my leg up. I closed my eyes most of the time. Just feel what he was doing with my leg.
It got so warm. It was really awesome to share.
If you ask me our castfest was a success. We had six people.
Everyone was super nice.
